Food For Thought
…and then the Duke of Edinburgh swore at me..
with Geoff Ellis
Friday 19th November 2020
Geoff Ellis, a Worthing author will be talking about his experiences as a young newspaper photographer in the late 1950s recording mundane local events such as flower shows and OAP parties, to being gassed and beaten up in Ulster while covering violent scenes in Northern Ireland and moving to national newspapers in Fleet Street.
Amongst those who will get walk-on parts are Yehudi Menuhin, Duke Ellington, Cilla Black, Princess Margaret, Stephan Grappelli, Chris Barber, HM the Queen Mother, Jayne Mansfield and Reg Highfield.
He will offer an insight into the rapid development of photography- Geoff Ellis started his career 64 years ago using a ¼ plate Speed Graphic, allowing just 12 exposures. This year, research shows that more than 1.5 trillion pictures will be taken.
